We believe that it is our responsibility to introduce preschoolers to their Heavenly Father. So before they move on to the elementary years, we want them to know:
God loves me,
God made me, and
Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
Every month we focus on one of these three basic truths. Each week your children will learn a Bible story and participate in fun, creative activities that teach the one key truth for the month.
If you would like to know what your children are learning, please pick up a copy of the Small Talk card located on the tables inside the classroom doors or click on the link below. You are the best teacher for your children, so use the activities to talk about God all week at home.
We want the Weekend to be the BEST DAYS of your child's week. The following information will help you understand what the weekend experience is like.
In order to create the most ideal teaching environments, we place one volunteer in every small group for every five children.
Your children will be placed in small groups and assigned small group leaders.
The weekend is divided into several segments:
As soon as they walk in the door, they participate in a MAKE IT FUN activity that is designed to grab their attention.
They will then hear a creative presentation of the Bible story and participate in worship, where they are encouraged to sing and dance and interact with their leaders.
Following the worship and story time, they will go to their small groups for a brief time to talk about what they've learned that day and what it means to their young lives. They will also pray together as we teach them what it means to talk to God.
During the last part of their morning, they will participate in several creative, fun activities designed to help them better understand the key truth of the day through a hands-on experience.
If your children are potty training, please communicate that to the teachers and bring an extra change of clothes.
Volunteers are never allowed in the bathrooms alone with children. They will assist them with clothing (as needed) outside the door and with handwashing afterwards inside the classroom.
We provide snacks each week. We usually serve Goldfish or Cheerios. When we are serving something new, you will see a note posted on the door of the classroom.
If your children have any allergies or special dietary needs and cannot eat what we have provided, please inform the teachers and bring appropriate snacks for them.
Do not bring toys from home, as it is very difficult to keep up with them and it causes unnecessary stress for the kids when they are asked to share with other children.
Please label all items that belong to your children.
They will be promoted to the next classroom based on the school calendar. Promotion takes place in the fall.
Hello Preschool Friends!
This month in First Look we are talking about people God made to help us. Just
as God made your wonderful volunteers to help you, He made people to help all
of us. Isn't that awesome? How reassuring to know that God puts people in our lives
that are here to help us. And, He puts us in people's lives to help them. In
fact, it says in Ephesians 4:32 (NCV) "Be kind and loving to each
other." We are to be kind and loving to one another, helping each other
when a need is seen.
Our preschoolers will visit with several characters in the Bible this month
while learning that people can help them. They will visit Ruth and Naomi and
learn how Ruth stayed and helped Naomi even when she could have made a
different decision. They will hear how Boaz helped Ruth to find enough food for
her and Naomi, and they will visit with David and Jonathan. Were there ever two
truer friends than David and Jonathan? What a wonderful example of a friend
helping a friend. And finally, our preschoolers will meet Mephibosheth, a man
who could have been forgotten except for a promise made by a good friend.
Through the entire month we give children examples of people God put in their
lives to help them every day, as well as people God put in their lives for them
to help. We offer opportunities for them to help the classroom leader in
several activities in order for them to flex their "helping" muscles.
It's a month about helping each other!
